    Costly But Extremely Good

Posted by Jon on May 24th 2020

I purchased this based on the quality of Felo's hand drivers, and this definitely lives up to that standard. Driving GRK structural screws with an impact, I found these to be very, very good. The finish is extremely nice, they are very smooth and have some kind of anodized finish, not a paint. It holds up surprisingly well. The tip geometry is exquisitely good, they fit better than any other brand of Torx bit I have ever encountered, and I only experienced cam-out at the most awkward angles. The longevity is wildly superior to the black Makita "ImpactX" (China) product, and is noticeably but not dramatically better than the Makita "Impact Gold" (Japan) product, which are my go-to. These have a long, straight neck so you can really bury a fastener if you want. I like the look of it but in use, I think the Makita design with a hex section right behind the tip is ultimately better, as it gives you something to grab to remove it from the impact. Though really nice these are also really spendy. You can get a 15 pack of the Impact Gold's at the Big Orange Retail Giant for less than the cost of two of these here at KC. So overall, these are a lovely product but the value is questionable, especially if you are going through them at a reasonable clip.
