Wera 051464 ESD Safe Rapidaptor Handle

    Posted by W on Feb 23rd 2024

These handles are of a very good (medium) overall size, and that is good for different size hands. In our experience, they have been extensively used by folks younger than 12 years old, that would have otherwise struggled with typical standard size larger (grip diameter) driver handles. Overall, good ergonomic shape that reduces hand/grip fatigue. They also work well for adults with medium or large hands. The handle material is durable, and cleans up well with simple soap and water household cleaner. We also have one of each color of these size handles (3), and that aids in being to easily determine the desired type/size bit to pick up, as they are setup for a task. Example: one handle each, with a hex driver bit of: 1.5mm (yellow), 2.0mm (grey), and 2.5mm (green).

    small

If you are familiar with Wera drivers, this handle is the same size as their 3mm slotted driver and also the bottle opener handle size. The photo makes it look like the larger (I will argue more standardized) P2/Torx driver handle. So if you are expecting something as large as the 051024 (which is still called a Kraftform Kompakt even at its size) then you will be surprised at the least. It is a good handle and obviously the ESD aspect of this one is the more significant part but the whole reason you pay the prices of German tools is the comfort and quality. For quality, it's just as good as any other Wera product. For comfort, it's really up to you. I am curious now just how small the smaller one would feel, but when they start to get this small or smaller I prefer the shape of Wiha handles.

Handle is well designed. The chuck is quick, secure and free spinning.

    A less interesting case

See my review of Wera's 813 R ESD for some considerations useful for both offers. In this case, I'm going to give only 3 stars because the size of the handle psychologically invites the use of rather long bits, not a good idea with these two models, IMHO.
