Brockhaus Heuer began with the establishment of a small factory shop by Friedrich Brockhaus in 1864, and by 1920 Brockhaus & Sons Company was established. Rapidly becoming one of the largest drop forges in Germany, they began production of Josef Heuer’s recently patented parallel jaw bench vise, which became extremely popular. After a design update that allowed the front jaw to adjust outward from the front of the bench, rather than the rear moving backwards over the bench, it took its place as the premier vise throughout Europe. Not content to rest on their laurels, Heuer has worked to perfect their original design including the use of a trapezoidal screw thread with a special pitch for extreme resilience, steel safety rings at the end of the spindle wrench, exchangeable jaw pads for different materials, and countless other refinements. Regardless of design changes, one thing that has remained constant is the use of forged steel, resulting in unparalleled strength and a product that truly is dependable for a lifetime of use.
