Collin's Screwdriver Set

This set is centered on having one great, all-around screwdriver with auxiliary drivers for more specific needs. Your go-to screwdriver is the Wera Kraftform Plus, Phillips no. 2 with hex-bolster and Lasertip. Top-of-the-line and comfortable, it has everything you need for general everyday use as well the added extras for getting at tougher jobs. The Felo wooden-handle slotted driver also has the hex bolster, but adds a striking cap and blade capable of withstanding a blow from a hammer. For more precise screws you have two options: the Wiha Phillips No. 1 with a full sized handle and a Witte Wittron Phillips #0 precision screwdriver for electronics, computers, toys, etc. Finally, the two oddballs from Felo. An offset screwdriver, which is handy when doing off-angle jobs like doorknobs and a reversible-bit stubby for tight spaces. Great German-brand screwdrivers for a wide variety of applications.

    Great variety of useful tools

Bought this as a gift for a friend who doesn't have a lot of tools and is always wanting to borrow things. Nice variety of tools and all really well made. I figure this will cover them across a good variety of situations and let them get started on figuring out what they need to add in the future since they were feeling a bit overwhelmed by choice when starting with nothing.

    Nice Assortment

    Posted on Mar 24th 2018

I ordered this set to give several brands and styles of screwdrivers a shot. This has a good overview of the options. My impressions: Felo stubby - well made and the bit especially feels very sturdy. The bit is held in by a collar that clamps against the shaft, which I can imagine wouldn’t last forever. Felo offset: seems well made, but I can’t say I’ve used it yet. I can’t even think of the last time I’ve used an offset driver, but now I’ve got one just in case. Felo wood handle: this screwdriver screams “old school.” It wouldn’t surprise me to find out that production of this line hasn’t changed in many years. The wood in the handle is less dense than your average driver handle, resulting in a lighter overall tool. Wera: I’ve got a small assortment of Wera drivers that I really like, but none of them had the hex shafts and bolster by the handle. This makes the driver feel much more substantial. It feels like it’d last forever. Wiha: the soft material on the handle feels really nice. The grip on this feels like it’d help you get some good torque into the screw. Wittron: haven’t used this one yet, but it feels ok. I wasn’t particularly impressed with the finish on this driver, but the tip seems fine.

    Great introduction to German screwdrivers

    Posted on Jan 30th 2018

I bought this because I wanted to try out a few styles of popular German brands. They're all well made, but I like the Wera the best (larger grip fits my hand better) along with the stubby Felo. The Felo offset screwdriver is also deceivingly useful (and well forged). One of those tools your didn't know you needed until you got it.
