Maybe I got a bad one....

Posted by Ryan Guldbrandsen on Apr 23rd 2023

First off these are very nice drivers. I bought a full set. #1,2,3 and 3 of the same size slotted drivers. These are very comfortable in hand and have 99.9% of what I want in a screw driver. BUT, I finally used one. This #1 Phillips. I simply tightened 4 screws on my isobar surge protector(the screws are in-between #1 and #2 unfortunately). So first issue. The driver kept wanting to slip out. That sucked... Second issue, upon inspecting the driver. It was damaged from slipping out! This was a very low torque application! So either the chinesium screws are so good on the isobar that they will damage any driver. Which I found isn't the case using Weras, vessels, and PB swiss to loosen and retighten using a #1. So, the steel used in the head of my driver is soft. Which means I'm not going to be able to trust the total set I purchased to do the around the house work I purchased them for. There's ABSOLUTELY NO way I would use a mallet on these in a high torque situation. Maybe I got a bad #1. It is ALWAYS possible. I thought that I would have these drivers for.... 10+ YEARS. I have some cheap Craftmans acetate handled drivers, that I've had for 10+ years and they have seen better days. But are functional. I don't think these will have that life. I know the #1 definitely will not have that longevity. So after searching for the perfect drivers for...3-4 months. I'm a bit disappointed in my decision. Hopefully it's just a really really really bad heat treated head and the rest of them with last. ?‍??
