    Knipex PreciStrip16

A good tool, increases speed of panel work. Struggles a bit with harder wire insulations, e.g. pvc/ vinyl

    Perfect Every Time

Posted by Michael on Oct 17th 2021

Best wire strippers ever. Once you set the strip depth, you can just crank through the task at hand. No marks on the wire whatsoever - perfect every time. The quality of this tool is incredible. I will definitely last a lifetime. You have to get used to the "snap" that occurs when the casing is pulled away and gets thrown. Highly recommended.

    This is the way

Watching the videos and reading reviews, I was skeptical about buying these. I'm glad I tried them, they work great. I've been using Klein Katapult strippers with great success but they only strip up to 10 AWG. Most standard strippers will only handle from 18 AWG to 10 AWG. The Knipex will strip 22 AWG to 8 AWG without adjusting or lining up the wire to the correct slot. I like the adjustable stop so all wires are stripped to the same length every time. The wire cutter on top of the tool works great. It's also very light weight but seems well built.

    Better than tool truck strippers

Posted by Clyde on Jul 11th 2021

I read the other reviews and debated spending the money on these. I have not had the issues others have had. This thing works great on everything from 8 to 22 gauge wire. I can't speak to issues that maybe encountered by other people using this on residential or industrial wiring. BUT this stripper has no issues with automotive wiring.

    ONLY WORKS FOR SELECT WIRE

Posted by Dylan Spangler on Mar 16th 2021

Bought this to replace my other knipex strippers that broke. I found that the strippers slips on the three main types of wire we use at work( Txl, Exane, UL1015, some other can & twisted wires as well). Basically this wire strippers is a $130 paperweight... Prevent the frustration and stay away from this stripper! The older style 12-40-200 Knipex strippers is what you want.

    They work but barely.

These may work for certain types of wire but for the many random pieces I tested them on, it struggled.

    Adjustment does the trick

Posted by Phil on Dec 20th 2020

I've used a few of these style of strippers before and never found one that worked on all the wire types I use around the house and shop. All worked fine on typical residential wires/insulation but all also struggled/failed on the thinner and tougher small gauge PTFE insulated wires that I use in electronics projects. To be honest, I bought this expecting it not to work and was anticipating needing to return it, but thought it worth the risk given the adjustment/tension knob. At the middle setting, it's just like all the others, it fails on PTFE for me. Crank it up a few clicks and it works. Definitely figure out the right tension setting on a spare wire first before performing a final strip of a wire in place. Also, a real bonus is the wire cutter. I was not expecting this to be worthwhile and just a gimmick, but it's seriously one of the best cutters I've used. It puts a nearly FLAT cut end on the wire, even on 12ga solid romex. It's very impressive in its quality of cut but also in how little effort it takes. Overall, very highly recommend these as ones that can go from the hobbyist's workbench to the electrician's bag. Love these!

Very quick and easy wire stripping

Posted by Augustine on Nov 7th 2020

All of the features necessary to make wire stripping precise, repeatable and with no damage to wires. The wheel adjustment gets you the exact depth of cut. Well worth the cost for such a handy tool. Light weight as well!
