-"Mushroomed" steel faces.
-Hammers that have been used improperly or left out in the elements.
-Hammer claws that have broken due to prying materials other than nails.
-Hammers that sides have been used as the striking surface.

    The 300 gm. hammer head feels about right for me, not too big or small. I did file a small 1/8th in. flat on the pointed end which was rounded making it difficult to hit small nails with rounded heads.

    I'm pretty happy with it, I don't know if I like the all black powder coated head but it's probably a good idea in the long run. I like the fact that it's made in Germany, like all things made in Germany, they're the best in my opinion.
