    Perfect for Camera Lens Screws

Posted by Martin West on Aug 6th 2021

Had to take apart a camera lens made in Japan to rescue a filter I jammed into it by mistake. Back is held on by 3 small "phillips" screws, I tried small Craftsman phillips and Stanley jewelers #0 screwdriver on one screw but couldn't budge it. Screws had some threadlock on them and the standard phillips cammed out an damaged the head. Similar problems with cameras and electronics in the past. I knew about JIS screws from my Japanese cars, but never had any special screwdrivers. Googling around I found there there is a standard for tiny camera screws too, JCIS. Several YouTubers demonstrated benefits of JIS/JCIS screwdrivers for camera repair so I took the opportunity to buy my first WERA tools. (Learned about WERA from some other, very popular YouTubers.) #0 screwdriver is awesome. Fit tightly into the heads (so did he #00). Swivel end let me apply heavy pressure while turning the tip. Easily broke the threadlocker without any hint of camming out the head. Easily removed the screw I damaged previously. Reasonable prices, great selection, fast service and great tools.
